Stringybark Child Care Service incorporates a model of family grouping allowing all age groups and siblings to be together. We believe that children derive positive learning and mentoring opportunities from working and playing with different age groups.
As a dedicated team, we will work in collaborative ways to share our knowledge and expertise. We understand the importance of reflective practice to inform decisions and lead to more detailed understandings of our work with children. We will play and work with children to discover ideas, provide opportunities for learning and engage in active research alongside them. We acknowledge that learning is life-long and we are committed to on-going professional development.
Our Vision Creating confident children in a learning community We acknowledge the work of the educators in Reggio Emilia and incorporate the National Quality Standards (COAG 2012) and the Early Years Learning Framework (DEEWR 2009) into our daily practices.
Yoga is a popular transition activity that children enjoy before lunch or after morning tea.
We try to give children situations where they can learn through social interaction with others.
Learning through play improves all aspects of the brain. Every day, we observe children’s learning, record it, and inform families of our findings. Along with parental feedback and observations on their child’s current interests, we use this documentation to inform our curriculum.
We have a fantastic music program as well. As part of our everyday routine, our staff members play the piano, guitar, and ukulele.
Our programs regularly incorporates cultural variety through celebrations and conversations, and cultural diversity is embedded in our program.
The Centre provides educationally appropriate and stimulating programs to assist in the development of the whole child, their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and moral growth. Indoor and Outdoor experiences are provided in small and large group situations. These experiences cater for each child’s individual development and reflect current interests of the group or an individual child.
We recognize the value of play on development. Research has found that children attain higher levels of achievement through engaging in play.
